Course Descriptions:
MSKL 503 Muscoloskeletal Diseases
Multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. The students will have theoretical and practical training in the emergency departments, outpatient clinics, operating rooms and inpatient sections of the hospital dedicated to Orthopedics, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Rheumatology, Hand Surgery, Spine, Radiology and Algology. The program will include basic science topics related to clinical medicine; lectures, seminars, panels, clinical presentations, examination of laboratory tests, evaluation of pathologic findings and diagnostic imaging studies and related topics. The topics will cover musculoskeletal traumas, degenerative and metabolic diseases, developmental abnormalities of musculoskeletal system, sports medicine, infectious diseases of bone and joints, tumors of bones, cartilage and soft tissues, rheumatologic diseases, and pain management in musculoskeletal system.
NEUR 512 Neurology
Multidisciplinary approach to the diseases of nervous system and ophthalmology. The content of the course includes a review of the physiological, pathological and pharmacological basic principles of the nervous system, the diagnosis and treatment principles of common nervous system diseases, infections of the nervous system, trauma, vascular, degenerative diseases and tumors, emergency service approach to adult and pediatric patients, outpatient clinics, intensive care units, surgical approach to nervous system diseases; common ophthalmologic problems such as refractive disorders, ocular trauma and emergencies, glaucoma, retinal diseases, uveitis, diseases of ocular adnexa. The students will participate in the proceedings of Adult and Pediatric Neurology, Neurosurgery, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Algology and Ophthalmology departments. The program will include lectures, panels, symposia, clinical presentations, demonstrations of laboratory, pathological and imaging methods.
PSYCH 513 Psychiatry
Multidisciplinary approach to psychiatric disorders. The content of the course will cover the diagnosis and treatment principles of common psychiatric disorders, the care of adult and childhood patients in emergency services, outpatient clinics and inpatient services. The students will participate in the proceedings of Adult and Pediatric Psychiatry. The program will include lectures, panels, symposia and clinical presentations.
SENS 506 Ear-Nose-Throat, Dermatology
Multidisciplinary approach to ear, nose, throat and skin diseases; diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus, otitis media, nasal and paranasal sinus diseases, epistaxis, salivary glands and larynx diseases, upper respiratory tract obstructions, neck masses, oral cavity lesions and speech disorders; skin, hair, nails, oral mucosa and sexually transmitted diseases.
FORM 511 Forensic Medicine
This course aims to provide knowledge about the forensic medical procedure, autopsy, death, wounds, child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, physicians’ legal responsibilities, medical malpractice.
By the end of this clerkship, the students will be able to:Identify problems dealing with forensic medicine and resolve that problems using with correctly applied different concepts, define forensic medicine and how forensic medicine works, describe differences between forensic science and forensic medicine, diagnose forensic cases, perform forensic medical procedures,write a proper forensic report, define autopsy procedure and autopsy types, describe what death is, types of death, early and late evidences of death, organ transplantation procedures, describe forensic psychiatric principles, describe what domestic violence is, types of domestic violence, the results of domestic violence, describe what violence against women is, types of violence against women, the results of violence against women, describe what child abuse is, types of child abuse, the results of child abuse, define medical malpractice and list types of medical malpractice, analyze the relationship between forensic cases and penal codes, describe classification of wounds, diagnose different types of wounds, define what asphyxia is, types of asphyxia, evidences of asphyxia and to make differential diagnosis different types of asphyxia.
