(European Medical Student Association-Koç University)

European Medical Students Association – Koç University (EMSA-KU): Koç University School of Medicine is also a member of the European Medical Students Association. They organize a summer school in our medical school every year since they become a member. To date, they have organized 7 summer schools, one on cardiovascular diseases, three on neurological sciences, one on reproductive health and fertility, one on cancer, and one on organ transplantation and artificial organs. Our students made important contributions to medical education at national and international level with these meetings. Web pages for this summer school are listed below.

We are looking forward to seeing you as a member of our growing family in the new term. May the Blue Spirit of EMSA be with you!

EMSA-KU is one of the sub-working groups within KUMSA which became operational in 2011. EMSA-KU is not only based on student volunteerism but also supported by the Dean’s Office of the Koç University School of Medicine. The club has grown with its innovations every year and as of 2020, it has become composed of six branches of work: Public Health, Medical Ethics and Human Rights, European Integration and Culture, Health Policy, Medical Education and Medical Science. These branches of work organize activities such as field events, awareness days, conferences, interactive trainings, symposiums and summer schools. Synapsist Summer School is the biggest event of our club, where expert doctors and lecturers from Türkiye and abroad teach on different subjects each year. In the summer of 2019, Synapsist Summer School hosted Turkish and foreign participants for the 6th time at Koç University Rumelifeneri Campus for a week. In addition, a team of 10 people went to Poland within the scope of the Twinning Project with EMSA-Warsaw in spring 2019 and successfully represented our culture as well as our faculty. Our club has regularly and actively participated in EMSA Türkiye and EMSA Europe Assemblies which are held twice each year as one of the largest delegations.
