BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Students will find the opportunity to work on topics regarding global health such as migration, health policy and non-communicable diseases. In addition, the elective offers a research path to students as well. During the one-month process students will be involved in activities they select. Selected activities of the rotation are below:
– Weekly evaluation meetings for the activities
– Field work in selected neighborhoods in primary health care centers
– Field work in selected NGOs
– Preparing a research proposal, data collection, data analysis and preparation of a manuscript.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Brief: develop knowledge and skills for community-based needs assessment and improve research skills
Specific objectives are:
– Develop knowledge and skills of the participants for community-based needs assessment
– Develop knowledge and skills for preparing an intervention plan including prioritization of needs, planning the activities, defining the stakeholders, and evaluation plan of the intervention
– Develop an understanding and improve skills of the participants for health advocacy
– Improve research skills of the participants for preparing research proposals, conducting research, data analysis and manuscript preparation.
ASSESSMENT OR EVALUATION
Attendance to evaluation meetings
Final report of the course (500 words)
Submission of the materials prepared by the students
Self-reflective report for the objectives (250-500 words)
